Manufacturing of engineered quartz is not simple and involves several steps to create a durable and beautiful surface. Here is a brief overview of how engineered quartz countertops are made:

1. Raw Materials: The process of manufacturing quartz surfaces begins with the selection of quartz grits or granules, which are mined from quarries and ground into a fine powder by raw material supplier companies. The powder is then sold to quartz slab manufacturers, who order different sizes and qualities of quartz grits based on the specific colors of quartz countertops they plan to produce.

2. Mixing: Once the raw material is sourced, these quartz grits are mixed with resin, pigments, and other additives to create a homogeneous mixture of quartz lumps. The resin serves as a binder, holding the quartz particles together.

3. Pressing: After blending the mixture, the next step is to form the slabs using the vacuum and vibration method, along with a pressure of up to 100 tons, to compact the blended mixture and create the slabs. This process helps to minimize water absorption and reduce porosity, ensuring that the final product is strong and durable.

4. Curing: After compacting the slab, it’s cured in a heated chamber, also known as a kiln, at a temperature of around 85 degrees. This is where the magic happens – the resin hardens and bonds the quartz particles together, giving the slab its incredible stain and impact resistance. This process is what makes quartz slabs so durable and long-lasting, making them a perfect choice for busy kitchens and bathrooms.

5. Polishing: After curing, the slab is polished to achieve the desired finish. Different finishes, such as matte or glossy, can be applied to suit the design preferences of the customer.

6. Quality Check: Each slab undergoes quality control checks to ensure it meets the manufacturer’s standards for strength, durability, and appearance.
